"All By Myself" is a 1975 song by American singer/songwriter Eric Carmen. (The more notable cover by Celine Dion was recorded in 1996.) The melody of the verse is based on the theme of the 2nd movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto. This classical connection explains the allure of the beautiful melody line. And speaking of beautiful, the cello is featured on the melody in the first statement of both the verse and the chorus in this arrangement!
