It is designed to introduce students to traditional fiddle tunes, combined with familiar classical melodies in fun, easily accessible arrangements. In the twelve duets included in this book, the violin part is designed for the more advanced student, on the level of Suzuki Violin School, Books 3-5. Third position, rapid passage work involving string crossings and chromaticism are utilized. The cello part ranges in level from Books 1-3 and remains in first position, with some extensions. The cello part has been edited by Robin Bloomberg. Double stops can be found in both parts. In the cello part, double stops usually involve open strings. Classical pieces include works of Bach, Beethoven, Dvorak, Handel, Mozart, Offenbach, Pachelbel, Schubert, Rossini, Vivaldi and Johann Strauss.
