The sad and reflective composition is intended to be a musical representation of Van Gogh's silent and solitary walks. Immersed in nature, he found inspiration in making his first sketches of animals and rural landscapes.
Especially in his early years of life, his extraordinary sensitivity and fragile personality often led him to be a lonely and maladjusted child.
